Sunil Chhetri Joins Ronaldo, Messi In Top Goal Scorers List

The only Indian to reach the top goal scorers list.

Sunil Chhetri became the fourth most active International player surpassing England football great Wayne Rooney, after his goal against Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday. The Captain scored the only goal in the qualifier in the 69th minute which ensured India sat at the top of the Group.

While Cristiano Ronaldo is the leading goalscorer with 73 goals followed by Messi with 58 goals and Clint Dempsey with 56 goals. Chhetri is just two goals away to stand par with Demsey to become the the highest active scorer only after the two legends Ronaldo and Messi.

The man is a month away from turning 33 and he still managed to run three-fourths of the pitch in the second half of the match to give India a crucial win. Under coach Stephen Constantine, India have also improved their FIFA rankings to stand in the top 100 for the first time in 21 years.
